Surrender to the self-                               4 hour immersion

Typically the activity of the warmer months begins to wind down as a natural completion of a cycle, drawing into the cooler months, a time of rest and restoration. This is a reminder to us of the impertinence of things, as all things come to an end. Traditional Chinese Medicine theory says Autumn is related to the Metal element and the organs Lungs/Large Intestine.
Both of these organs reflect this as they receive what they need and let go of excess, allowing for the come and going of their needs as it arises in each moment.

This 4 hour Immersion is a morning from 9am-1pm focused on gentle Yoga & Qigong related to the Metal Element, a labyrinth walk and Meditation. You are invited to take this time for yourself to release stress you might be holding on to, so you can move towards the winter as a stage of nurturing and restoring harmony within.

Morning tea is provided and a pleasant country environment of Jen's garden.
Investment $100

Challenges are Transformation

4/5/2020

Here I sit in front of my computer, not the most favourite thing for me to do, as I struggle with technology, preferring to meditate, do yoga, cook or just be in the garden enjoying the sun. There is so many other things to do, however, this crazy time in our lives, where we are thrust into the uncomfortable situation of the unknown, we need to find out who we are in this. Yes, I'm going to say it, "COVID-19" has got us all scattering to our homes and it should be a time to enjoy time away from the normal rush, clean out cupboards, get into the garden, but I have found it's thrown me, as it has many of us. Trying to reinvent ourselves and adapt to the new way of being is an adjustment for all. I actually love being home, and in truth, don't need close interaction of a lot of people, I could actually happily, do the things I mentioned earlier, yoga, meditate, read up on yoga studies etc. you know retreat… but I've had a push... from something inside me, or outside of myself that says..."Get up off your butt, you are required to step up" I don't know if it's guilt of not stepping up before, even though, maybe I have in some ways, or fear of being lost in the cracks of society, but this is kicking my butt!
I have spoken to another spiritual leader friend of late and she feels the same, that there's a pressure. It's a time of transformation, and as there is so much unrest out there, we all need tools and guidance to keep ourselves be steady and grounded. So, I suppose the work that I’ve been drawn to do is now, more than ever, of utmost importance to share. Some of you know I’m doing live streaming classes, it's been nerve racking to step on to new ground, I’m a 'Soul' proprietor, that hasn't had experience in the tech world, but does that mean I’m not good enough to try??? Believe me I ask myself regularly, am I good enough? Am I enough? I realize it's important for me to have struggles, fears and insecurities as this is what advances my knowledge and ability to relate to the struggles of others.
May be your struggle is being confined to home and too much time to do a lot less than you used to, which on the flip side lends you time to do things you may have always wanted to do. Another struggle might be spending time trying to entertain the kids, when all you need do is remember what it means to be a kid again. Negotiating work and home life balance can also be a struggle for us as it's quite possibly all done in the same location now, setting boundaries and routine for breaks and exercise is of paramount importance. I highly recommend you mediate or do yoga/qigong/tai chi everyday even for a few minutes, as I know these practices don't need to be hard or complicated, but can help you, to organize your thoughts, improve sleep, settle restlessness and dampen fears.
I am grateful for the challenges, even though they turn my stomach and my life upside down, but upside down and turn around offers a new perspective. Let's all use this time to take up the things we never made time for, even if it's becoming more still and develop the skills that will benefit us in the future, not just for ourselves but for the community as a whole, a global community.
We really are in this together (heard that a lot lately!), but it's true. We are all amazing, each and every one of us. Together we make a Whole lot of difference.                                                                      Hang in there.

Life is a Moment by Moment Experience;

9/20/2019

Picture
What if we woke up with fresh eyes every day, and saw it as a new opportunity to learn from but not be branded by our past. Every day has so much potential,  just as we have with us, in fact every moment is potential waiting to be realized.

'Life is a moment by moment experience' quote by my father, James Wong
I recall my father relaying this quote to me when i was a teenager, and it sat lightly upon me then.  But as I've lived more moments it is  something that has imprinted itself quite deeply within me.  So along with the quote from the wise sage Guatama Buddha, it has me revisiting it.
If only we realized how much we can change our own lives by a simple act, change of thought or shift in our perception moment by moment, we could create more opportunities of joy in our lives. BUT HOW.......
*Let's choose to slow down the daily rush -filter out what we see as problems, in other words prioritize what we worry about and don't sweat the little things, you know, You Are OK!
*Take a child like approach to life-gaze at this life in wonder and in the words of Jessica Malboi 'Make big things out of little things'
I know this counters what i said before, but the rule is when looking at the negatives is filter out the little things, and when looking for the positives magnify the little things, for they are in every moment, hidden behind a smile, resting on a flower, spread out over the sunrise, they are everywhere.
  * Recognise the moment you are living in-u elated or difficult or maybe perfectly uneventful, be in the experience of it with all your senses, soak it up..all of it
*Savour it as it happens rather than looking at or for the next one.
I recall my son at the age of three, when we took him to the zoo for the first time, he was so excited to see the giraffe, however when we arrived there, he barley landed, literally checked it off his  'Sighted list' and within ten seconds ran towards the lions cage. Now do't get me wrong, i love a lion as much as the next gal, but there was so much to discover right there in that moment with the giraffes., such regal and unique mammals, they take their time doing everything.
If we are always rushing to the next moment then we never truly arrive at the present moment.
So when you open your eyes tomorrow morning, remember- Open them with child's eyes ready to discover wonder in every new experience as if it's the first time, appreciate each day we have and remember to be present, cherish the details in each second.  Mostly, be careful you don't miss them, for these moments are your life.

Spring Blossom Retreat...What can i expect??

8/30/2019

It wouldn't be fair  to tell you everything you could expect in this retreat, as I do believe in spontaneity.
Like this time of the year, we have to allow for some expected things and yet relish in the unexpected. Isn't life meant to be like that?? Imagine if you could predict every day, even if it was mapped out  to be completely pleasurable, and what you would deem as perfect. Sure, for a while, we would love this, and yet our nature as humans is to seek out challenge. We would become bored of the predictability and then, despite ourselves, become either discontented, which may result in being destructive of the situation, self sabotaging or  depressed due to lack of stimulus, often blaming others for our discontentment.  I suppose this is what Patinjali meant when he spoke  of us always being in a state of suffering.
We are such funny complex creatures, we want perfection, and yet we never quite seem to reach it, as we are always wanting...something else, when really it is here all the time... inside us, sometimes hidden and yet often in plane sight.
This retreat will offer quiet time to reflect on those disturbances to your happiness. What winter stores do you have that you can bring out the best in you?
Start the day with some gentle qigong to get the energy flowing, followed up by some yoga specifically complimentary to the Spring season. This will entail some flow and movement opening the insights of the wood element, Liver and Gallbladder. The yoga will be moderate and can always be modified to suit the individual.
There will be a lovely breakfast provided in an outdoor setting to enjoy the garden and an outdoor fire will be available.
After breaky we shall enjoy some chanting to assist with shifts and walk the labyrinth for courage, and also to walk everyday in gratitude. We shall then engage in some Yin/Restorative Yoga and finish ....if we have time(there's so much to fit in) with a Yoga Nidra.
The warmth of the Spring sunshine will bring some light on the potential seeds within, so you can nourish them and encourage your inner radiance to arrive in a place where you feel more content with who you truly are.
Om Bavan Namaha   the Spiritual law of Pure Potential.  'I am Pure Potential'
Unveil the dormant buds of your potential.
Allow yourself to see the blooms within yourself and rise towards the sun with joy.

What Is Qigong? What does it do for me??

Picture

Qigong is an Ancient form of Chinese mind-body-spirit practice that has mental, energetic & physical health benefits. It's slow mindful movement helps with posture, balance, breathing and focus and  also includes meditation, self massage breathing practices all which assist with developing the "Life Energy" -Qi, Chi, or prana (all mean the same thing in different cultures.)
The repeated movements build proprioception  & awareness while increasing fluidity of movement.
Qigong has a Chinese medicine background working on the meridian theory to unblock and free these energy channels throughout the body which increases freedom of movement, good health and longevity.
There is a lot of supported modern research  done on the effects of this 5000 year old practise and people of the world are embracing this ancient knowledge. Some do it for it's relaxation, to self heal, for it's meditative effects, as exercise and some use it to move toward Tai Chi the Martial Arts side of Qigong.

Qigong is not strenuous, it is gentle and flowing. Suitable for all ages and becoming increasingly popular around the world.
